Annie Hickman

Founder of The Brave Kind Co.

Mother. Survivor. Storyteller. Soft place to land.

Annie Hickman didn’t set out to build a company—she set out to build a safe place.

A safe place for children tangled in big feelings they can’t yet name.

For parents doing the impossible work of reparenting themselves while trying to raise emotionally whole kids.

For the parts of all of us that didn’t feel safe growing up—and still wonder if we’re too much, or not enough.

Annie is a trauma survivor, a former children’s psychiatric tech, and a mother navigating the complexities of blended family life and long-haul healing. Her story is marked by loss, grief, and the kind of resilience that doesn’t roar—but whispers “you’re still here.” After losing 250 pounds and slowly learning how to live in her body again, Annie became devoted to helping others do the same—emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Her work in psychiatric units, her personal battles with anxiety, infertility, and complex trauma, and her years of studying emotional regulation and nervous system safety have shaped more than her career—they’ve shaped how she loves. And how she teaches others to do the same.

The Brave Kind Co. was born from Annie’s deepest truth: that story heals. That when we speak to children with tenderness, honesty, and magic, they don’t just listen—they become.

Every book, Brave Box, and printable she creates is crafted from that belief. And from one more:

That the world needs more safe places.

More soft yeses. More strong no’s.

More adults who choose to grow, so children don’t have to shrink.

This isn’t just a company.

It’s a movement.

And Annie?

She’s the kind of brave that makes room for yours.
